About the Undeclared Major

At the College of Communication, undergraduate students in their first and second year will enroll into an undeclared major. Before reaching the third year, they will be, based on their preference, enrolled into the Department of Journalism, Department of Advertising, and Department of Radio & Television.

The system of undeclared major is implemented in the light of the current of digital convergence. The conventional boundaries among journalism, broadcasting, and advertising have gradually dissolved. Under such circumstances, students in journalism ought to adopt a refreshed media mindset, whereby news education now aims to equip students with the abilities to utilize emerging media technologies and to adopt various media materials to report, present, and publish information on different platforms. Equipped with these core competencies, graduates will be able to cope with the current trend in the field of media.
